Non-Woody Roots coming from small woody root.

Non-woody roots on young trees.

A mass of non-woody roots.  The arrows point to grape like structures.  This is a common place to find mycorrhizae in these clumps of living soil.

A cluster of yellow mycorrhizae.  Composite structures made up of non-woody root tissues and fungus. 

A non-woody root with root hairs.  Root hairs are extensions of single epidermal cells.  Do not confuse them with mycorrhizae which are composite structures.
